This probably would only make sense to Canadians. I think the joke is on Canadians, who might find Muslims "strange" because of their worship - all the while, worshipping and going crazy for a silver trophy awarded to a hockey team every June. It's illustrating that we're all "fanatics" in one way or another.
I think it's clever... might give some people the understanding that worshipping a silver trophy is pretty silly in the grand scheme of things as Faraz said.
