Maryam

Please pray for my 16-month old niece, Maryam. She remains in the hospital over a week after sustaining an injury to the head, and is in poor condition. The injury is far more serious than anyone initially suspected.

She is the daughter of my youngest brother, Hafiz Asrar. He and his wife have been undergoing considerable strain and anxiety, as one might expect; thankfully, the community has offered tremendous support, with friends and family coming from all over. There are additional subplots to all this causing additional distress to our entire family, but the health of the child remains the deepest concern.

Please remember all of us in your prayers, that Allah grants shifa to Maryam and lets her lead a normal life, and that Allah grants comfort and peace of mind to her parents and my parents, and that this ordeal comes to a quick and happy ending.

Update 2.28.2007: Alhamdolillah, she's out of the hospital now, though far from 100%. I want to thank everyone who visited, offered advice, or supported us with their thoughts and prayers; you all know who you are.

P.S: You mentioned Shariah Program. I'm taking that course right now. Did you finish it all the way? as in two years? I'm in my second year.

  4. Hafsa: I did the two-month on-line course back in April 2005; I didn't do the two-year one. I wish I had the time to do a more intensive course, but the on-line course was pretty good. Of course, I'm sure it would have been better live, with the teacher right there. How's the two year course? Is it only Shaikh Yusuf teaching, or are there other teachers as well?

  7. Assalam-o-alaikum!

It was very relieving to know that Maryam is out of harm's way and that she's on the path of recovery. May Allah speed up her recovery and protect her, Ameen!

She's such a CUTE child, Ma'shAllah that I couldn't take my eyes off her picture. She's just CUTE!

I really hope everything settles down soon, with all the tension and confusion surrounding her. It must certainly be a testing time for your family.

May Allah grant you patience and compensate/reward you all for the testing time you're going through! Ameen!

    Asslam-o-alaikum!

Assalaamu'alaykum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakaatu

My turn now... Word on blogspot is that this blog is at its last breath. Now I'm all about respecting what people decide, knowing that they know what's best for them, but dare I share my two cents with you on the matter (recognizing that I don't know the circumstances surrounding it and admitting this comment is partly motivated by selfishness). Mawtun hoona laysa jayyid, lee-unna anta kaatibun akbar (masha'Allah). Fuh.. uhm...the way I see it, if you can shake off the put-off and find your umph it in it again, uktub, uktub, insha'Allah. Allah has blessed you with a sharp mind (masha'Allah), a talent with the written word (masha'Allah), and a space to put it all together. So again, I extend all due respect to your wishes, but for the love of the rest of us, write! :) (please)-no pressure of course :)
